“Enhanced Situational Awareness” saves lives from cholera in Ethiopia

Resolve to Save Lives partnered with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and local community leaders to prevent a surge in cholera cases during a popular religious holiday, using an approach called Enhanced Situational Awareness, or ESA. Monitoring climate, mobility and social events with high outbreak potential—like mass religious gatherings—enables us to act on those risks early, before an outbreak has a chance to take hold.
