2025 was a difficult year for public health, but together with our partners, we made important progress against the world’s deadliest health threats.

  • Our cardiovascular health partnerships reached a historic milestone: they’re now on track to prevent 9 million deaths over the coming decades—representing one of the most cost-effective life-saving interventions in global health history.
  • This past year, 15 million additional patients enrolled in hypertension treatment.
  • Pakistan and Malaysia banned industrial trans fat—bringing the total population protected from this deadly additive to more than 4 billion people.
  • Nigeria passed policies addressing lead in cosmetics, a critical step toward preventing intellectual disability and early death.
  • The 7-1-7 Alliance now spans 75 countries and has engaged more than 3,500 frontline health workers. New research confirms that faster outbreak response saves lives.
  • Our work strengthening primary health care in Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Uganda protected patients and health care workers and laid the foundation for better outbreak detection and response.
