Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is committed to serving as an honest broker — an impartial, trusted liaison among governments, donors and global partners. In providing technical and strategic policy advice, RTSL offers recommendations rooted in science and evidence to strengthen global epidemic preparedness efforts.
“We want to harness the post-COVID momentum in the preparedness space and make sure that the additional funds and personnel are targeted to programs that will prevent epidemics as we go forward,” said Amanda McClelland, Senior Vice President of Prevent Epidemics at Resolve to Save Lives. “The distinctive role that we play is accompanying a country to strengthen its preparedness through a high level of technical expertise, development of operational capacity and building political will.”
In Nigeria, our team provided funding and expertise to support our partner, the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), to increase funding for epidemic preparedness at the national, state and local levels. GHAI’s multifaceted approach included strategic planning, advocacy capacity strengthening and coalition building with a range of local civil society organizations, as well as media engagement, to elevate the importance of preparedness and budget advocacy. This helped generate a 100% increase in funding for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control between 2019 and 2021.
