The Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) India team convened with implementing partners and technical experts in Delhi to review progress from the first phase of the hypertension program, exchange learnings, and align priorities for the next phase of work.
Partners reported improved treatment and control rates across the intervention districts—in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra—along with stronger capacity among frontline health workers to provide continuous care for people living with hypertension.
The discussions also highlighted emerging best practices, such as engaging community groups and local health structures to support follow-up and screening efforts. The impact of these was already noticeable: stronger, more people-centered hypertension programs in India, with a shift in focus toward sustained follow-up and long-term blood pressure control.
Looking ahead, RTSL India and its partners made commitments to institutionalize and scale best practices and build on progress, including:
- Continuing to align with key government-led campaigns like the Screening Campaign, Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), and Gruh Arogya Yojana, which allow close collaboration with government stakeholders and provide a broader platform for program priorities. .
- Capturing and sharing best practices and success stories to demonstrate impact and strengthen credibility with state and district leadership.
- Promoting cross-learning by sharing and adapting proven tools such as the NCD due list, district ranking system, and zero-entry facility list across other states.
