New Senior Vice President of Cardiovascular Health Announced

WHO releases new, lifesaving hypertension guideline

Our President and CEO Dr. Tom Frieden released a statement encouraging countries to demonstrate their commitment to ending preventable deaths from high blood pressure by adopting and implementing WHO’s new “ Guideline for the pharmacological treatment of hypertension in adults ”.

Statement from Dr. Tom Frieden on WHO’s new, lifesaving hypertension guideline:

“Resolve to Save Lives, an initiative of Vital Strategies, endorses and supports the new ‘Guideline for the pharmacological treatment of hypertension in adults’ released today by the World Health Organization (WHO). We encourage countries to demonstrate their commitment to ending preventable deaths from high blood pressure by adopting and implementing WHO’s new hypertension guideline.

New resources on blood pressure treatment availability in India

Our team in India analysed the antihypertensive drug market in the country over 2016-18 and developed national and state-level fact sheets that provide key insights on unmet need for blood pressure treatment to support strengthening of the hypertension control program in the country.

Third round of LINKS grants awarded to 9 winners

We  announced nine recipients of LINKS third round of grant funding. Over $1.1 million was awarded to projects in eight countries that will expand care for high blood pressure and support trans fat elimination and sodium reduction policies.
