Dr. Awa Marie Coll-Seck

She previously held the role of Director of the UNAIDS Department for Policy, Strategy,
and Research from 1996-2001. She then served as Minister of Health and Prevention of
Senegal from 2001-2003. In 2004, she became Executive Director of the Roll Back Malaria
Partnership, a global platform for coordinated action against malaria based in Geneva,
Switzerland and hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO). She held this role until
2011, when she returned to serve in the Senegalese government as Minister of Health and
Social Welfare from 2012 to 2017, and later Minister of State to the President of Senegal.

Dr. Coll Seck sits on several boards and committees, including the High-Level Steering Group
for Every Woman Every Child and the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program Advisory
Board. She is Co-Chair of the WHO-UNICEF-Lancet Commission (A Future for the World’s
Children). She is a member of the Jury of the Noguchi Prize (Japan) and of the jury of the ISA
Award for Service to Humanity (Bahrain).

Dr. Coll Seck has been honored with numerous professional and academic awards, and she
is the author of more than 150 scientific publications.
