new trial published in BMJ’s Heart Journal shows that the WHO-HEARTS technical package, developed and championed with support from Resolve to Save Lives, significantly improves high blood pressure treatment and control compared with current practice. This trial conducted in rural Bangladesh is the first to rigorously assess the complete HEARTS package—a set of practical, cost-effective strategies for effective hypertension care at the primary care level—and provides evidence to scale-up HEARTS throughout Bangladesh and to support its implementation in other low- and middle-income countries.
