We need good data to make life-or-death decisions in health care. Bad blood pressure readings can be lethal, and leave patients vulnerable to heart attack and stroke.
The Resolve to Save Lives Ethiopia team donated 104 Omron blood pressure devices to facilities in Addis Ababa, Oromia, and Amhara regions implementing the Ethiopian Hypertension Control Initiative (EHCI). This initiative is aimed at strengthening management of high blood pressure as part of Ethiopia’s national strategy to combat heart disease.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Selam Ayele, Team Leader of the Non-Communicable Disease and Mental Health Desk noted that the new digital devices will help save lives by making it easier for health workers to obtain accurate blood pressure readings and initiate or increase care.
