Sodium reduction policies could save 7 million lives by 2030 

The World Health Organization’s first-ever Global Report on Sodium Intake Reduction shows that the world is off-track on its target of reducing global sodium intake by 30% by 2025. Developed with support from RTSL’s nutrition team, the report includes strategies and case studies to help countries make concrete progress on sodium reduction.

Venezuela, Bolivarian Republic of

Resolve to Save Lives partners with the Pan American Health Organization to support the continued scale up of HEARTS, the World Health Organization technical package for improving cardiovascular health.

Vietnam

Resolve to Save Lives partners with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, the George Institute and the Global Health Advocacy Incubator to support hypertension control and salt reduction initiatives.

LINKS grantee, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, is working to improve access to quality, affordable blood pressure medications among rural populations in Vietnam.

LINKS grantee, the George Institute, is working with local partners in Vietnam to develop a lower-sodium fish sauce.

Virgin Islands (British)

Uruguay

Resolve to Save Lives partners with the Pan American Health Organization to support the continued scale up of HEARTS, the World Health Organization technical package for improving cardiovascular health.

Uzbekistan

With support from a grant from the LINKS Community, the WHO Country Office in Kazakhstan and the WHO Regional Office for Europe are working to reduce salt intake in three countries in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, & Uzbekistan).

Turks and Caicos Islands

Resolve to Save Lives partners with the Pan American Health Organization to support the continued scale up of HEARTS, the World Health Organization technical package for improving cardiovascular health.

Uganda

Resolve to Save Lives supports the implementation of REPLACE, the World Health Organization (WHO) technical package for eliminating trans fat from the global food supply.

LINKS grantee, Makerere University Joint AIDS Program, is integrating hypertension screening and treatment into routine HIV care at the largest HIV clinic in Uganda.

Resolve supported the WHO national strategic COVID-19 vaccine deployment plan.

Resolve also supports COVID-19 response and ongoing preparedness efforts through risk communication, lab capacity building, health care worker training, rapid response funding, Partnership for Evidence-Based Response to COVID-19 data collection and analysis, and legal support.
